William T. McGivney, PhD

Principal

Bill McGivney is the Principal at McGivney Global Advisors. Dr. McGivney has vast experience and expertise that he focuses on "real world" issues and strategies. His key accomplishments include leadership of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) as its CEO from 1997 to 2011. During his tenure at NCCN, Dr. McGivney founded the NCCN Drugs and Biologics Compendium. Prior to the NCCN, Bill was the Vice President, Clinical and Coverage Policy for Aetna Health Plans from 1991 to 1997. He has been a member of the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee (MedCAC), the Liaison to the FDA for the American Medical Association (AMA), and developed and directed the AMA's Technology Assessment Program, DATTA. He holds a PhD in Pharmacology.

Jennifer Hinkel, MSc

Partner

Jennifer Hinkel is a partner at McGivney Global Advisors. She holds a MSc from the London School of Economics, where she studied international health policy, health economics, and pharmaceutical economics. Prior to joining McGivney Global Advisors, Ms. Hinkel was part of Genentech's Industry Analytics group, where she led impact assessments of health policy, Medicare reimbursement, and policy-related industry trends. She is a graduate of Roche and Genentech's accelerated global management program, during which she held roles in pricing, contracting, and distribution strategy (North America), oncology marketing (Argentina), hospital sales and account management (UK), and specialty therapeutics marketing (US). Prior to her time at Roche, Ms. Hinkel was a manager at NCCN working on cancer center best practices and optimizing safety and efficiency in hospitals and the cancer care delivery system.

 

Ms. Hinkel has also been a partner/founder in a mobile health care technology startup, a lecturer in Health Systems and Health Economics at Penn State University and Arcadia University, and has health policy experience in Washington, DC and in the United Kingdom parliament.

Jake Guinto, PhD

Senior Consultant

Jake Guinto joins McGA from a biopharma consulting background including IMS Health and Pricespective. Dr. Guinto is experienced in business analytics, market research, competitive intelligence, business development strategy, and pharmacy-related initiatives and has also held positions at Publicis Touchpoint Solutions, Elan Drug Technologies, and NCCN. Dr. Guinto has expertise in health care applications of big data, including experience in the design and development of custom, oncology Anonymous Patient Longitudinal Data. He holds a PhD in Developmental Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr.Guinto also has a MS in Biology from Villanova University.

Maria Ho, PhD

Group Scientific Director

 

Maria Ho joined McGivney Global Advisors as Group Scientific Director with expertise in clinical guidelines and medical communications. Dr. Ho developed deep experience in oncology and hematology as staff oncology scientist at National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN®). During her 7 years at NCCN, she worked closely with thought leaders from top cancer institutions to develop NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) for over 20 types of cancers. Her other NCCN responsibilities included journal manuscripts, accredited CME events, conference materials, and patient educational content. She also oversaw scientific content development for NCCN international programs.

 

Before Dr. Ho joined McGivney Global Advisors, she was Medical Director at BioCentric Inc., a medical communications company, serving as the scientific lead on multiple accounts with pharmaceutical/biotech companies. Her broad experience includes product branding and messaging, medical advisory boards, scientific round table meetings, scientific/medical conference activities, key opinion leader (KOL) interviews, KOL videos, product website development, sales training materials, monographs/manuscripts, and clinical trial recruitment materials. She covered diverse disease areas including oncology, hematology, women's heath, cardiology, diabetes, arthritis, and infections (vaccines). Dr. Ho holds a PhD in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada.

Jonathan Larsen, JD, MPP

Policy Consultant

Jon Larsen, JD, MPP is the Policy Consultant at McGivney Global Advisors. Mr. Larsen has broad health policy experience, particularly in oncology, having served in policy roles at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), where he also managed  international business development. Outside of oncology, Mr. Larsen has worked on public policy initiatives at the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) and was a legal researcher at Temple University’s Policy Surveillance Program (PSP), where he analyzed laws related to public and private insurance coverage. Mr. Larsen has worked on issues related to biosimilars, molecular testing, the use of health data, medical guidelines, cancer prevention, health disparities, access to care, and the initial rollout of the Affordable Care Act. Most recently, Mr. Larsen worked as a senior compliance specialist at PerformRx, a pharmacy benefit management company, where he applied deep expertise across a continuum of Medicare Part D issues. 

Mr. Larsen holds a JD from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law and an MPP from George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, where he was a distinguished Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellow.

Courtney Smith, PhD

Scientific Associate

Courtney Smith joined McGivney Global Advisors as a Scientific Associate after working in clinical guidelines and immuno-oncology research. Prior to McGivney Global Advisors, Dr. Smith developed clinical content for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), spanning solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, immuno-oncology, biosimilars, and supportive care. These guidelines were developed with the expertise of clinicians from 27 leading cancer centers to detail oncology management decisions and interventions. She has authored numerous journal publications and book chapters and has reviewed and developed conference materials and clinical slide decks for key opinion leaders. Prior to NCCN, Dr. Smith worked on immune-oncology agents, focusing on strategies to overcome immune suppression. She holds a PhD in Immunology from George Washington University and a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Delaware.

Jacy Rider, MBA

Business Manager

Jacy Rider is the Business Manager at McGivney Global Advisors. In that role, Ms. Rider coordinates consulting projects, maintains customer relationships, tracks business growth, and manages marketing and promotional activities. Prior to joining McGA, Jacy was a Project Manager at Merck with extensive experience in vaccine life-cycle management and early drug development in oncology. She holds a BS and MBA from Penn State University.

Dan Sexton, MPH

Analyst

Dan Sexton is an analyst at McGivney Global Advisors with a focus directed towards health policy and health economics. Mr. Sexton works with consulting team leads to develop revenue impact and financial models based on health policy and market scenarios. He also creates and refines educational materials as well as conducts research analytics. Prior to joining McGA, Mr. Sexton acquired leadership experience from his time spent leading service missions and teaching biostatistics. He holds a BS from Villanova University and an MPH from Arcadia University
